Diary of an antique dealer

china restoration

China Restoration is a subject that has always interested me.

I have just come back from a trip to the Potteries (Staffordshire)

I have been dealing with The Studio Restoration Company for over 20 years. They are lovely people. This is a picture of Lynguard restoring a Minton / George Jones Majolica bowl.

You can give them a piece of pottery in a hundred pieces and even with some missing then 3 months later you have an item as good to the eye as it was when new.

So remember when you buy on sites like ebay make sure you send them a PM before you bid stating that if the item is restored you will be returning it for full refund and postage.

I can not stand antique dealers who try to pass off restored items as genuine.
