Diary of an antique dealer

Happy New Year.

4th January 2010.

My first day back after the holiday period.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

and I wish you all a Happy New Year.

I am now up and well again after my illness

(My illness turned out to be food poisoning.

So it has kept me off the road for a lot longer than first thought.

I hope  to be up and running again in the first week of January.

I wish you all a Holy Christmas and a Happy New year.)

Today the antique trade came alive again with some trading.

Mr Brett Griffith of West Lancs Antiques one of the most reputable characters in the trade bought my jewelery shop cabinets from me to day. It was Bill Griffith, Brett's Dad who in the early 70.s sold me the most  fantastic dinning room suite that I have ever seen. I eventually sold to the ex. President of the USA Jimmy Carter's brother Billy. He told every one that it came from an English Castle, owned by a Lord of England and was made in the 1600s.

Well in fact it came from a warehouse  in Market Street Southport, owned by Bill and was made in 1920.

Don't you love the stories you hear in the antique trade.
